Memories of GHS

I had attended Pennypacker Elementary (remember Miss Michels and the Tom Thumb Wedding - I was a flower girl).

Then on to Wagner Junior High School ( English class with my uncle Nat Lieberman).

GHS is filled with many very fond memories.

1. Traveling by public transportation to and from school.

2. Volunteering in the school office (answering phones).

3. Being in the gymnastics club.

4. Participating in the ballet club and dancing on stage in Cinderella.

5. Joining a soriety.

6. Going on the Junior and Senior Class trips.

7. Attending the Junior and Senior Class proms.

8. Weekend nights "hanging-out" at the Hot Shoppes and "Ho-Jo's"

I made many lasting friendships in GHS.

Life After GHS

Next it was on to Temple University, where I earned a degree in Elementary Education.

I shared a wedding gown with Roz Miller and Sheila Markoff and was married in 1960 to Barry Richman. He went to Lincoln and Drexel.

In December of 1961 I gave birth to Gordon Bryan Richman.

Taught for 3 years in the Philadelphia Public Schools at Fox Chapel.

Moved to Maryland when my husband took a job at Fort Detrick in Frederick, MD (it was a germ warfare testing center).

My second son Howard Ross Richman was born in 1967.

Got divorced in 1985 and have remained in MD.

I am a cancer survivor from 2000.

Both sons are successful attorneys in the metro DC area and are happily married to wonderful and successful women - Carolyn Wicker and Melissa Sigwart. They are both "DINKS" (double income, no kids).

I sold real estate part time for 30 years. I own my own single family home.

I currently work for Montgomery County Schools in North Potomac, MD.

I will complete 30 years with the school system in June 2005 and I plan to retire. Hope to move to Palm Beach County, FL.
